Key Note Speakers

Charlie Massy

Charlie Massy is a renowned Monaro farmer and author of "Breaking the Sheep's Back” and more recently “Call of the Reed Warbler”. As a prominent public speaker Charlie is leading the charge in grazing systems for healthy landscape function. Charlie’s talk will focus on how many farmers practicing different aspects of regenerative agriculture are experiencing positive responses in improving their farms ecologically, financially and with greater resilience. He explains that their secret seems to come from gaining an understanding of ecological literacy, of understanding how landscapes function, and thus how to ‘read’ and better manage their landscapes’.

Martin Royds

Martin is a multi-award winning farmer from Braidwood who is actively involved in the Mulloon Institute for Environment, Farming and Society, the Soils for Life initiative, the Land to Market Australia initiative and Landcare NSW. Cattle are his principal tool to build biological diversity and soil carbon in the land but he also produces truffles, yabbies, organic fertilizers and bio-stimulants to support agriculture that can survive all seasons.

Martin will present climate adaptation strategies for pastoral landscapes farming and bring a local perspective to the evening.
