The event will urge global leaders, especially permanent members of the UN Security Council, to use the Summit of the Future, a “once-in-a-generation” opportunity, to recommit to bold and just UNSC reforms that would effectively contribute to a more equal, inclusive, efficient and responsive multilateral peace architecture as envisaged in the UN Charter - interrogating key actions and policy recommendations in line with various initiatives including the Pact for the Future, Oxfam’s flagship report ‘Vetoing humanity: How powerful governments are hijacking our global peace and security’, the report of the High-Level Advisory Board on Effective Multilateralism, the report of the High Level Panel on Africa and the Reform of the Multilateralism, the People’s Pact for the Future, and a new initiative to reform the UN Charter.
