Overview

Duluth classical music community celebrates the 150th anniversary of the birth of French composer Maurice Ravel

“Reflections on Ravel” is a celebration marking the 150th Anniversary of French composer, pianist and conductor Maurice Ravel's birth in 1875.

With his unique and compelling voice at the crossroads between impressionism and modernism, Ravel created a kaleidoscope of soundscapes. Immerse yourself in the iconic French composer's universe through his chamber music works and arrangements of his most treasured pieces to celebrate the winter season.

Performers from the Twin Ports classical music community include: Paula Gudmundson, flute; Theodore Schoen, clarinet; Ben Jorge, trombone; Jennifer Lien, soprano; Georgia Jacobson, mezzo-soprano; Kristen Sande, violin; Jennifer Mattson, violin; Jonathan Kresha, viola; Byron Klimek, cello; Charles Sundquist, piano; and Janell Lemire, harp.

This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.

E-tickets will be available for $20 (plus $3.18 in fees) at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 31 on Eventbrite. Paper tickets will be available for $20 at Globe News in Superior (cash only) and Zenith Bookstore in West Duluth (plus $1 handling fee). Tickets will be available at the door while supply lasts for $25. Student rush tickets available at the door only for $5. Doors at 2 pm. Music at 3 pm.
