Event description

Description

Florida Sea Grant and the Gulf Shellfish Institute are organizing a workshop for the Florida shellfish aquaculture industry, to be held on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 in Bradenton, Florida. This workshop aims to bring together managers, industry stakeholders, scientists and federal and state specialists in order to foster communication and enhance commercial shellfish production in Florida.

The overall goal is to enhance the ability of industry members to operate businesses during periods of red tide, and to provide a forum for discussing current challenges and potentially new strategies for harvesting shellfish in areas susceptible to harmful algal blooms.

This will be a full 1-day workshop that will include presentations from regulators, scientists and industry members, and culminate in a round table discussion/open forum at the end of the day, followed by an on-site evening reception (the evening reception will be held from 5:30 - 7:30 pm).

Workshop registration is limited to 60 participants. For details please contact Angela Collins (email: abcollins@ufl.edu).
