Overview

This course provides an insightful exploration of the Recovery Model as a foundation for supporting clients with Substance Use Disorders 1CE

This course provides an insightful exploration of the Recovery Model as a foundation for supporting clients with Substance Use Disorders (SUDs). Substance Use Disorders affect individuals from all walks of life and have profound physical, emotional, and social consequences. The Recovery Model offers a holistic and person-centered approach to guide clients on their journey towards lasting sobriety and improved well-being.

This training defines substance use disorders and provides examples of the effects of various substances. The training highlights trauma-informed approaches of Window of Tolerance (WOT) and trigger planning as two tools counselors can use with clients. The training further explores the role of clinicians when supporting clients who struggle with substance use, and providing psychoeducation on the dangers of withdrawal.

This is a beginner’s level course and there are no specific prerequisites for this course. The course is open to social work professionals, students, and individuals interested in gaining knowledge and skills related to Substance Use Disorders and the Recovery Model.
