Mandana MacPherson and Crystal Cawley showcase an exhibition of unexpected garments and accessories. The ensembles that will walk the runway, made from materials the artists have collected and reconfigured, reflect the commitment of both artists to sustainability in materials and processes, and the honoring of traditional craft skills and techniques.

Mandana makes magic by weaving, knotting, looping, and knitting strips of discarded inner tubes, alone or in combination with other materials. She laces and rivets rubber pieces into handknitted wool garments and their unfinished component parts, creating richly surfaced and patterned wearable wonders.

Crystal uses letterpress and woodcut printing techniques on old textiles and paper to make engaging sculptural pieces that can be worn, sometimes. She embroiders by hand or machine to add a wide variety of surface embellishments to her printed and found materials.
