Dr. Liz Safran, Associate Professor at Lewis & Clark and geomorphologist by training (think floods and landslides), will help us better understand the origins and anticipated consequences of the Pacific Northwest’s major earthquakes. She will also touch upon some of the ongoing efforts to reduce risk and build resilience in Oregon’s dated infrastructure.

Dr. Safran has a self-proclaimed obsession with the Cascadia Subduction Zone earthquake. She received her undergraduate degree from Harvard University, MSc from University of Washington, and PhD from University of California, Santa Barbara.
