Welcome to the RBC Boulder event, where we'll be diving into October theme, Burnout: Exploring why burnout is happening more, how to prevent, or recover from it, through this month's read, Dr Claire Plumbly's "Burnout: How to manage your nervous system before it manages you".

More about Burnout:

Our nervous systems weren't designed for modern life's relentless assault—they handle acute stress but crumble under constant demands, trapping us in survival mode where rational thinking shuts down.

Dr. Claire Plumbly reveals why you can't "think" your way out of burnout and offers a science-based roadmap using polyvagal theory to soothe your hijacked nervous system back to full capacity—guiding your body out of perpetual fight-or-flight so you can actually think, create, and connect again.

Delicious drinks are included, as well as engaging storytelling and space for conversations and sharing your own journeys across countries and continents.

Your hosts for the evening

Joey Gigante

Joey is a marketing strategist who’s led campaigns for some of the world’s biggest brands. He’s always been a voracious reader — once getting in trouble as a kid for reading under his desk at school.

Drawn to books on cultural criticisms and society (and allergic to self-help books), Joey believes books expand our worlds and that discussing them with others makes the experience richer.

‍He’s leading RBC Boulder with the hopes of building something simple but powerful: chill vibes, smart conversation, and a space for people connect. If you leave each session thinking a little differently, mission accomplished.

Jay Dike

Expedition designer, entrepreneur, and wildlife conservationist, Jay thrives exploring the intersection of nature, innovation, and creativity. With roots in South Africa and a former London RBC member, he now wants to provide a welcoming forum for Boulder's diverse array of freethinkers to connect over epic, game-changing reads and engage in rich dialogues.
