Online event

Overview

This session will work through drawings from a specifier perspective, identifying materials in plan, elevation, section, and detail.

Most in the construction industry know how to read drawings. How you interpret what you see depends on what you are looking for. An estimator is looking for square footage while a roofing manufacturer is looking to see where the mechanical units are located. This session will work through a set of drawings from a specifier perspective, identifying materials in plan, elevation, section, and detail, then organizing those materials into a table of contents.

What you’ll learn:

  • Identify materials, products, and systems on the drawings
  • Documentation tools to organize materials into a table of contents
  • Understand the importance of using consistent terminology
  • Understand the importance of identifying materials in one place only to avoid
  • contradictions

This session is geared towards all construction professionals, particularly those in the first 1-10 years of working with specifications.

If you have a project you would like to use as a demonstration in the class please let me know a day in advance.
