In this free workshop, families will participate in a variety of activities:

  • Hands-on cooking demonstrations with seasonal vegetables and herbs
  • Learn nutritional benefits of vegetables and herbs
  • Start your own vegetables and herbs to take home
  • Get easy tips for meal planning and preparation
  • Literacy activities
  • Q&A session for personalized guidance

In addition, families that attend will learn about the New Worlds Reading Initiative and how to become eligible for UF IFAS's Books & Cooks Family Course in Polk County.

New Worlds Reading is Florida’s free at-home program that helps eligible VPK - 5th graders strengthen literacy skills and spark a lifelong love of reading. Join us for information on how to apply and to take home a book on your child's grade level!

Workshop is presented by UF/IFAS Extension Polk County.
