Cristina Verissimo

Cristina Verissimo lives and works in Halifax, Canada, and Lisbon, Portugal. Architecture diploma, Faculdade de Arquitectura, University of Lisbon, Lisboa, Portugal, 1989. Architecture diploma, Faculdade de Arquitectura, University of Lisbon, Lisboa, Portugal, 1989. MArch II degree, GSD, Harvard University, 2002. Registered architect in Portugal since 1989. Worked with Zaha Hadid in London (1989- 1991). Founded CVDB Arquitectos with Diogo Burnay in 1999. Projects and buildings have been exhibited and published worldwide and have received national and international awards and prizes. Juries and lectures in Spain, France, Germany, Argentina, Chile, Peru, China, USA and Canada. Developing a PhD on research of possible new uses of Cork in architecture. Conducting international workshops involving researchers, universities and industry. Together with Diogo Burnay, was the chief curator of the 2022 Lisbon Architecture Triennale, “Terra”. In 2025 Curator on the XIII Ibero-American Biennial of Architecture and Urbanism (BIAU) in Lima, Peru.

Diogo Burnay

Diogo Burnay Works and lives in Halifax, Canada, Lisbon, Portugal. Associate professor, School of Architecture, Dalhousie University, Halifax, Canada, 2012 - (director 2012-2022). Architecture diploma, Faculdade Arquitectura, University of Lisbon, Portugal, 1989. MSc in Architecture, Bartlett School of Architecture, UCL, England, 1995. Registered Architect, Portugal. Worked in Lisbon, London, Macau and US. Taught at Hong Kong University Architecture School, 1995; Faculdade Arquitectura University of Lisbon, 1997-2011; College of Design, University of Minnesota, 2002 / 2006, and Architecture School U-Texas, Arlington, 2007. Lisbon Architecture Triennale 2022 chief curator with Cristina Verissimo. XIII BIAU Lima Peru 2024, awards co-curator. Docomomo Macau correspondent member since 2019. Founded CVDB Arquitectos with Cristina Veríssimo in 1999. He has lectured on their work internationally. Work has been exhibited/published worldwide and received national/international awards / prizes (WAN 2013 1st prize, Archdaily Building of the year 2014, Architectural Review 2015, highly commended, Education Buildings), first prize for the Mozambique Supreme Court, completion, 2025.
