Bring your instrument. Be a Stranger. Join Random Strangers Jam every 3rd Monday at Alewife Brewing from 8-11pm at 41-11 39th STREET, Sunnyside, Queens just off the 7 train for a fully improvised psychedelic funk rock jam session led by Sky Demetri and his band, Alex Tovar, Samario Hardy, and Maggie Loar.

Come prepared to create new music on the spot - every 5-7 minutes, half the band takes a seat and is replaced by musicians from the audience, the new group of random strangers picks a key and kick off a fresh jam segment.

The sign up sheet becomes available in person at Alewife at 7:30pm.

All jammers must sign in on the official sign up sheet (this is in addition to any online RSVP).

Online ticketholders get priority.

Backline includes: Amps, PA, D/I, mics, drums, keys. You must bring all other instruments.

Frequently asked questions

Who can join the jam?

Any musician who brings their instrument and is at a skill level where they can improvise with other random strangers. There are no cover songs or charts for this session. Everything is improvised.

How do I sign up?

RSVP on our website to guarantee a slot but walk-ins are welcome too! The sign up sheet is available in-person 30 minutes before the start of the session. All jammers must sign in.

Can I play a cover song or is everything improvised?

No cover songs!!! Improvisation only. Usually funk/rock, occasional blues and world music.

Can I just listen if I don't want to jam?

OF COURSE!!! Listen and enjoy, it's a special authentic experience you won't forget.

How much does it cost to join?

The event is free entry but we depend on tips and donations to keep our operations running. Your purchases at the bar are what keep these great indie venues open and determine whether the sessions continue. It's as simple as that. We all help eachother out and it keeps things going.
