This month's talk segment spotlights: Ginette and Philippe Jean speaking on the topic "Achieve Wellness by Farming (for yourself, your Community, and your Country)" and their entrepreneurial activities. This is their 2nd talk segment with AHP, since 2023.

After migrating from Haiti, Philippe and Ginette moved to Maryland and married in 1993. Philippe has held an accomplished 20+-year career in the telecommunications industry and transportation business, while concurrently, Ginette has been in the banking industry throughout that time. They are very involved in various activities in the Greater DC Haitian Community and are well-known as partners who love dancing.

For the past 5 years, the couple joined forces to steadfastly transition to entrepreneurial farming, motivated to help their community, country of birth and its fellow citizens. In 2021, they established Social Farming for Global Interaction (SOFGI) Connection and began collaboration with ECO City Farms, the Prince George’s Soil Conservation District (PGSCD) and Food Equity Council (FEC), and other stakeholders through the Urban Farm Incubator at Watkins Regional Park.

As Food is Health, Philippe and Ginette Jean have made great strides on the Journey to learn and grow one’s own food, teaching and mentoring many in their circle and the Community. The couple have actively advised others and shared knowledge on how to take the first steps to reaffirm our food sourcing and reclaim ownership of our food supply while broadening adepts of the Movement.

This month's mixer also features a karaoke session

Our special Karaoke moment for Flag Day invites all to engage in social gathering where we come together to sing traditional songs in honor of Haitian Heritage Month along with instrumental backing tracks during the mixer. The primary focus of this karaoke (therapeutic) moment t is on participants taking turns stepping up to a microphone and performing their chosen songs in front of the audience of attendees.

Join us for a night of fun, networking, and showcasing some singing skills for therapy and mental bliss.
