Greetings All,

We are personally inviting you to join the Raising Our Social Consciousness (ROSC) Book Club which we facilitate for Spiritual Life Center. The ROSC Book Club seeks to explore the experiences of different populations in the United States.

This round of our book club we will be reading How to Think if You Want to Change the World—Spiritual Practices for Social Activism by Jean-Robert Bayard Ph.D.

You feel pain or discomfort about things that are wrong in your world, BUT you feel helpless or discouraged to do anything about it.
You're hoping to be effective as an activist and make a difference BUT you feel overwhelmed or anxious.
You want to deal with this head-on AND keep your sanity, BUT you feel burned out or depressed.

If any of these are true, this book is for you.

Dr. Jean-Robert Bayard shares her insights to help you in your own struggles, drawing from more than six decades of experience as an activist to eliminate the suffering of others; as a psychotherapist helping patients to regain the joy of life, and as an ardent student of both Eastern and Western religious philosophies.

She dedicated the last years of her life to writing this book for her fellow activists, teaching how to get what you want by turning what hinders you into tools, taking responsibility for your thoughts and feelings and showing you, through self-revelation as well as the examples of great activists of history, How to Think If You Want to Change the World.

We are not going to have questions as most chapters have exercises. This book club will be co-led by Be Patterson.

Those registering for ROSC Book Club will receive weekly emails describing the chapters that will be discussed each session. The group is facilitated in a way to ensure emotional safety for all participants while learning about new and sometimes challenging material.

It is free to join the ROSC Book Club but a suggested registration or Love Offering (between $5 to $50) is recommended to support SLC programs such as our ROSC Book Club. Donations made to Spiritual Life Center are tax deductible, but Eventbrite registrations are not. A tax deductible donation can be made by clicking this link or at a later time after the Book Club begins.
