Raised By Sound Fest: Stephen Malkmus & Kurt Vile

Raised By Sound Fest is WYXR’s biggest annual fundraiser that combines a day of free live music and entertainment that caps off with a headline show and after-party that help raise much-needed funds for the non-profit community radio station. The Stephen Malkmus and Kurt Vile solo shows in Crosstown Theater marks the first year with a dual headliner, and a rare, intimate show with two indie rock legends that directly supports WYXR. 

Stephen Malkmus is a singer and guitarist in the groups Pavement, The Jicks, and the Hard Quartet and was a member of Silver Jews. Widely known as one of America’s most influential songwriters, this is Malkmus first solo show in Memphis. Kurt Vile has built a dedicated following with his conversational vocals and sprawling guitar. After co-founding The War on Drugs, Vile has seen much success as a prolific solo artist and with his band The Violators.
