About this event
Rainwater harvesting has multiple benefits including water conservation, the potential to lower municipal water bills, and a chemical-free source of water for flower and vegetable gardens. Along with these advantages, an even bigger benefit is the potential to reduce water pollution of our streams and rivers through the reduction of stormwater runoff. Join Phyllis Baker Smith, Natural Resources and Environmental Systems Agent, on World Water Day as she discusses design features, installation and set-up, safety considerations, and care and maintenance of rain barrels and small cisterns. A PowerPoint presentation will be followed by a short tour of the Forsyth County Extension Center Demonstration Garden to see how rainwater harvesting is utilized in the herb garden and pawpaw orchard.
This is scheduled as an in-person event with registration limited to forty. Social distancing and any other COVID restrictions that may be in place at the time will be observed. Registrants will be notified of any changes.
Door prizes will include Creek Week tee shirts and a 50-gallon Ivy Rain Barrel. Participants must be pre-registered through Eventbrite, attend the entire event, and complete a post-program evaluation to be eligible for door prizes.
