About this event

'Ragas and Reveries' is a unique musical experience where nothing is pre-written, nothing is rehearsed, and nothing is repeated. In this concert, Mohan Brothers create a brand new, fully improvised Indian classical experience right before your eyes and ears. FOX2 News, Detroit describes their music as "Music that will take you on an emotional roller-coaster" (The Nine Show 2018).

Each raga unfolds like a story that’s never been told. The melodic framework is ancient and the classical raga repertoire goes back many centuries, but the performance is entirely in-the-moment. Every phrase is shaped onstage, each musical gesture a response to the other — or to the silence in between.

This is the essence of real Indian classical music: spontaneous, intuitive, and alive. The Mohan Brothers, trained in the revered Senia tradition, bring to the stage a rare duet of Sitar and Sarod — a dynamic interplay of strings, rhythm, and emotion. Bound by both blood and music, their performances are filled with delicate dialogue, playful improvisation, and soul-stirring power. You've never heard a duet like this before.

Mohan Brothers:

Lakshay Mohan (Sitar)

Aayush Mohan (Sarod)

Having performed across the world — from London's Royal Festival Hall to the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles — the Mohan Brothers represent a new voice in Indian classical music: rooted in tradition, but thriving in the present moment. They are the first Indians to be invited to perform at the Grammy Museum, Los Angeles. After listening to their duet in 2012, the legendary Pt Ravi Shankar decided to launch them in the USA under his foundation. This tour got materialised in 2015 and was produced by the Ravi Shankar Foundation of USA. Fox5 TV network interviewed them for the "Good Day New York" show in 2018.
