By James Lawson Institute Vanderbilt University

Overview

We invite you to a discussion focused on Dr. Martin Luther King's radical politics, using selected excerpts from the book "The Radical King"

The James Lawson Institute will host a roundtable discussion focused on Dr. Marin Luther King Jr.'s radical politics, using selected excerpts from the book "The Radical King." This session invites students, faculty, and staff to engage critically with King's writings beyond the familiar "I Have A Dream" narrative, examining his critiques of economic justice, militarism, and structural racism.

Participants will read and discuss excerpts together, guided by prompts that explore how King's ideas challenge common perceptions and remain relevant today. The roundtable creates a space for thoughtful dialogue, reflection, and analysis, encouraging participants to consider the depth and complexity of King's vision and its implications for contemporary activism and social change.
