About this event

Rachel Levitin

Rachel Levitin is a Chicago born, DC based independent artist and producer best known for her original music, her work as an open mic host at Union Stage and Jammin’ Java, her time volunteering with ProjectHERA, and for her contributions to many other live music events throughout the DC metropolitan region. Her songwriting and musical style is powerful and authentic, drawing comparisons to the likes of Norah Jones, Sara Bareilles, and Rachael Yamagata.

Music is Rachel's life-long companion and creative inspiration. She attended summer programs at the Interlochen Center for the Arts and Berklee College of Music during high school, has independently released a variety of recording projects spanning nearly two decades, and has garnered multiple performance opportunities at prestigious venues including DC’s Lincoln Theatre, Union Stage, and DC9, and New York City’s Feinstein’s 54 Below, Rockwood Music Hall, and Arlene’s Grocery.

Rachel’s sound and expertise are well sought after as evidenced by her participation as a guest on The Kojo Nnamdi Show on DC’s 88.5 WAMU FM in early 2020 where her original song “Dreaming” was also played. Four more of her original songs including “Off My Mind," “Heavy," “Get Back Up,” and “Save Myself” were featured or debuted on Northern Virginia’s 96.7 WERA FM as well. And, in print, she was also featured in a 2018 edition of Arlington Magazine for her work on an original community preservation and digital docuseries called The IOTA Chair.

Annie Stokes

Annie Stokes is a dark Americana songstress from Virginia. Raised on bluegrass and musical theater, her lyrics recall moments you thought you forgot. She and her band have released an EP and two albums and are currently working on their fourth project. She's had the pleasure of playing Merriweather Post Pavilion, The Sylvan Theater, Jammin Java, Gypsy Sally's, Moon Valley Music Festival, DOAH Fest, Untitled Music Festival, Richmond Music Hall, The 9:30 Club, Songbyrd Music House and Record Cafe, and every little dive bar in between. She's also had the honor of performing with artists like The Hunts, EmiSunshine, Marie Digby, Sierra Hull, and many others. In 2016, she embarked on her first tour from the Midwest to Delaware, where she learned how to command different types of spaces, from living rooms to studios to busy night clubs in midtown Manhattan. In early 2017, she and her band toured in North Carolina, and in May of 2017, she travelled from Boston to Nashville with Maine artist Lucas Roy for the North X South Tour. So far, the biggest honor of her career has been partnering with non-profit organizations devoted to sustainability. In spring of 2018, she had the privilege of performing for amazing young activists at a youth summit at George Mason University, and is proud to be an example of the intersection between art and activism.
