Description

This summer, join us for our "Race, Gender, and Jim Crow Lecture Series." These talks will focus on a variety of topics centering around race, gender, and Jim Crow. All lectures are in Kimball Hall and begin at 6:30pm. These events are FREE.

On August 15th, Dr. Philip Rubio will discuss his book "There's Always Work at the Post Office: African American Postal Workers and the fight for Jobs, Justice, and Equality." Dr. Rubio tells the neglected story of African American postal workers and their roles in the U.S. labor and black freedom movements.

Dr. Rubio is an Associate Professor of History North Carolina A&T State University and holds a doctorate in History from Duke University. His is the author of two award-winning books and has written articles, book reviews, and delivered speeches on labor struggles, oral history, and the African American freedom movement.
