Background:

The Quintana Empowerment and Resiliency Project is a collaborative convergence of sustainability, resilience, community health (CHEST), community engagement and economic mobility initiatives in a disadvantaged community in Southwest San Antonio. The project is a City of San Antonio COSA RevitalizeSA CorridorProject{ Leadership Program Initiative. Through a partnership with Main Street America, the 2025 COSA Program offers a nine-month leadership development program for community members, including access to grant funding for corridor improvement projects.

The project has engaged City Impact Partners consultant Ramiro Gonzales, to help deliver tangible benefits to small businesses and to establish a realistic and actionable strategic vision for a vibrant and prosperous Quintana corridor. The focus will be on economic empowerment and long-term resiliency for small businesses and nonprofits through collaborative planning, capacity building, and access to vital resources.

This effort builds upon the foundation laid by previous initiatives, including:

· The South San Main Street Project, facilitated by Andy Castillo and Gilbert Morales

· The Opportunity Zone Report by Southside First, Judith Canales

· COSA Office of Resilience and Sustainability Community Action Grant Fund

· The RevitalizeSA 2024 Cohort Revive Quintana Project, led by Erica Benvides, which concluded earlier this year and featured marketing outreach and corridor façade improvements for local businesses

Once the heart of the former town of South San Antonio, the Quintana corridor boasts a rich cultural history and classic Main Street architectural charm. Today, it stands as a hidden gem of San Antonio, now experiencing a renewed wave of energy and investment.
