Join us for our monthly Wednesday events!
We welcome queer people of all genders who self-identify along the spectrum of Femme, Butch/Stud or anyone who identifies with the sapphic community (POETS?). This event is geared towards people who have never climbed before, haven't climbed in a long time, and experienced bolderers and/or belay-certified climbers.
Venue: Movement Gowanus
You will need to fill out the gym's participant agreement for your first visit. Do so ahead of time here: https://thecliffsclimbing.com/participantagreement
Accessibility
All levels are wheelchair accessible. Ask a Cliffs staff member to elevator assistance.
Changing Rooms & Lockers
There are gendered locker rooms with restrooms, as well as universal, individual restrooms with space to change clothes. You are welcome to use the locker room of your preference. Bring your own lock for valuables or you can rent them from the front desk. Cubbyholes for stashing non-valuables are throughout the climbing areas.

NON-MOVEMENT-MEMBERS (Third Wednesdays): $15 for a day pass which includes rental gear (shoes and harness). You will pay this directly to Movement when you check in at the front desk.
Our 1st WEDNESDAY MORNING EVENTS ARE ALWAYS FREE and includes rental gear.
If cost presents a barrier for participation, please allow us to assist: https://forms.gle/DdtKkWi3gWHZsY1R9
MOVEMENT MEMBERS: Just scan and enter. There is no additional cost for attending our events. If you have an guest pass you won't be using that month, consider donating it to a non-member.
Climb Time
CRUX event hosts will be present to help you get started. You will see a table with LGBTQIA flags and name tags. Please write your name and pronouns on your name tag and affix it to your top. We'll do a round of intros about 10 minutes after start-time.
For Wednesday evenings, we might pop around the area for some food and drinks. We'll spread the word before the event ends.
Frequently asked questions
No. Note that all minors must be accompanied by a responsible adult. The gym waiver must be signed by a guardian. CRUX is not a camp or drop-off organization.
Please contact info@climbcrux.org with info about your group before registering. This gives us an opportunity to ensure we can accommodate everyone.
Binding: Try for the largest size / loosest fitting as you're comfortable with. Tucking: For rope climbing, a safety harness might create a diamond shape around the pubic area when weighed. Compression underwear and dark clothing can minimize visibility. Bouldering doesn't require a harness.
Hair: However you want. Nails: We live for the clack-clack of a long nail. Just keep in mind that gym walls are rough enough to chip your fresh coat and pop off acrylics. Gel is more resilient.
Tight or loose, you'll want clothing that supports movement and flexibility. If wearing a skirt is important to you, you might want to accompany them with tights, leggings, or bike shorts. Rental shoes are disinfected, but you'll want to wear socks anyway. Thinner is better.
