Frequently asked questions

Can I bring my children and/or young family members?

Albuquerque Social Club is a 21+ venue - anyone under the age of 21 will not be allowed inside the club. We are currently working on other, more family-friendly venues, so feel free to contact us at aslyucca@gmail.com if you would like to stay updated!

I'm not a member of Albuquerque Social Club - do I need to purchase a membership?

No need to purchase a membership to get inside the club! However, they will charge a $5 door entry fee every time you visit. Alternatively, a monthly "Social" membership at $10 may be a better option. More information on membership options here: https://abqsocial.org/membership-information

Is this class a drop-in style workshop?

Nope! This is a 4-week, carefully structured class. You are welcome to attend as many or as few classes as you want, but each class will build upon information taught in previous classes. If you are unable to make the first class (or 2), try signing up for the next cohorts in July or August instead!

Will there be interpreters?

The instructor is Deaf and is currently seeking interpreters for the class (fingers crossed). However, they have successfully taught many immersive-style ASL classes using nothing but whiteboards, handouts, games, activities, gestures, charades, movies, etc.! You got this. Nothing to be afraid of.

I don't drink. Are there non-alcoholic beverage options? Alternatively, is there food?

Albuquerque Social Club has many non-alcoholic options, including a 100% non-alcoholic "bar" near the front entrance! As far as food, that is highly dependent on who happens to be vending, and/or if there are special events occurring which have food trucks. Best to eat before or after class.

I noticed the class time for the first Thursday of the month is different than the other Thursdays?

There is currently another event happening on the first Thursdays this summer, so we will meet earlier once a month to avoid scheduling conflicts.
