Session I – First Steps & Creating a Business Idea

Many people have a business idea and passion for it. But few have taken the time to reflect on whether they have the right motivations or expectations for starting a new business.

The goal of this course is to help you think critically about the decision to start a new business and provide you with the tools to analyze your customers, industry, and competitors. You will leave the course with an action plan that can determine if your idea is the right market opportunity.

By the end of this course, you will have:

1. Learned about the core competencies of successful entrepreneurs

2. Assessed yourself for these competencies

3. Learned about the motivations and resources required to launch a successful business

4. Defined your expectations for your small business

5. Defined the market problem your business will solve

6. Defined your target market

7. Defined your business’s unique value proposition (UVP)
