This day-long workshop explores how teaching with a clear, meaningful purpose can transform student learning. Purpose-driven learning—relevant to students and today’s world—calls for complex thinking and the integration of multiple disciplines. This is the core of transdisciplinary learning.Through interactive activities, we will show how a purpose-driven, transdisciplinary approach can shape curriculum and course design. Participants will collaborate in multidisciplinary teams to begin creating learning activities that could either stand alone in traditional courses or form the basis of new transdisciplinary courses.We will conclude with a discussion on practical next steps—how instructors can bring more purpose into their teaching and how administrators can support purpose-driven learning that serves both students and the wider community.Participants will receive breakfast, lunch, planning materials and a copy of <a href="https://www.newera-newurgency.education/" title="https://www.newera-newurgency.education/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">New Era, New Urgency: The Case for Repurposing Education</a> by F. Joseph Merlino and Deborah Pomeroy. Workshop Facilitators:F. Joseph MerlinoDr. Laurie Mauger Cost:$100 for those affiliated with PHENND member colleges/universities, $150 for all others.
