Are you a big Muppet fan and want to know some of the behind-the-scenes techniques in how they are made?

Do you need some hands-on creativity in your life, or want to bring some silly furry chaos to your next video call?

Welll then, join us at 2325 Union St and meet Emmy Award-winning puppet designer Michael Schupbach (Sesame Street, Bear in the Big Blue House, Ms. Rachel) for a rare, hands-on workshop where you’ll learn how to build your own screen-ready puppet from scratch — using the same materials and techniques used on some of your favorite shows growing up.

In just two hours, you’ll go from a pile of thread and fleece to a fully finished puppet character you designed yourself. Along the way, you’ll pick up tips on puppet construction and how to bring your creature to life with style and personality.

No experience necessary — all materials and tools are provided. Learn from a master of TV and film fabrication. Build a one-of-a-kind puppet, perfect for web videos, live shows, or just having fun. Great for established or aspiring makers, cosplayers, artists, or anyone who loves getting weird in the best way

Frequently asked questions

Is anyone younger than 18 allowed

No. Our workshop involves sharp objects and multi-step instructions at an adult level. If you have a younger crafter (over 15 years old) and can be an actively participating co-crafting guardian, get in touch with boopart@gmail.com, and we can consider this on a case-by-case basis.

Can I walk in day of?

No. You must pre-book to attend the workshop. The amount of materials provided are specific to the online headcount.

Are puppeteering lessons included in the workshop?

Yes , a short puppetry demo and hands-on session at the end. Enough to make you look like a badass on ypour next Zoom call. Full Muppet-style performance lessons available by request: boopart@gmail.com

What kind of puppets do we make?

Professional-quality, moving-mouth hand puppets in the Muppet style. They are suitable for video, performance, boring video calls, TikToks, or goofing around with friends.

Do I need experience?

There is no experience required. We will show you how to do everything.

But what if I am really bad at making things?

Don't worry, the instructor will show you step by step how to make your puppet. If you feel like you arent "creative" but want to try this is the workshop for you. Everyone walks away felling like a winner.

Are all materials provided?

Yes, all materials are provided.

Can I bring my own puppet making materials?

Please don't. If you want to bring along a small item to accessorize your puppet, a bow, a barette, a pin on a nametag, etc. we can probably work that in but we wont have time ot incorperate outside crafting materials.

Are sharp tools or glue used?

Yes, sewing needles, blades, are used. However safe usage of all items is taught.The nice thing about this workshop is there are no smelly glues needed but we do keep a hot glue gun at the ready as/if needed.

How long is the workshop?

2 hrs

Can I make more than one?

There is only enough time to make one, during the workshop. If you are interested in purchasing supplies for another puppet you can discuss that with the instructor.

Does everyone get to make a puppet?

Absolutely. Every person who books will walk out with their very own custom handmade puppet.

Do you teach how to make other puppets like Marionettes

Not at this workshop. If you want a workshop in a specific style please contact boopart@gmail.com.

Is this a good date activity?

This is a GREAT date activity! This is a perfect chance to see if your person can handle some silly, crafty fun. Afterwards, take your puppets to a second location where they can get a little loose and flirty. Enter code "datenight" for a 20% discount for you and your romantic cohort.
