PULSING SOUND SERIES -4 Telos Consort

A bold, cross-disciplinary concert series weaving sound, movement, and image. From intimate solo works to dynamic chamber ensembles, the season ranges from acoustic traditions to the frontiers of electronics, film, and multimedia. Featuring both rising talents and acclaimed collectives, Pulsing Sound invites audiences into innovative, emotionally resonant, and visually immersive experiences that capture the pulse of contemporary living.

THE BLANC is proud to co-present multiple concerts with an extraordinary range of ensemble partners. These collaborations bring together musicians and creators from across generations, genres, and artistic backgrounds—string quartets and composerperformers, improvisers and multimedia collectives—each with a distinct voice and approach. Through these partnerships, Pulsing Sound highlights the breadth of New York's musical landscape and the vitality of the communities shaping it.

CURATOR- Sofia Ouyang

Sofia Jen Ouyang is a composer and conductor whose work explores the poetic and philosophical dimensions of sound as a site of memory, identity, and entanglement. Her music has been performed by ensembles such as Orchestra of St. Luke’s, Ensemble Modern, Riot Ensemble, Wet Ink, San Francisco Contemporary Music Players, and the Juilliard Orchestra, and featured at Lucerne Festival, MATA Festival, Mixtur Festival, Lincoln Center, Frankfurt Oper, and the Arvo Pärt Center. A two-time BMI Composer Award winner and Copland House fellow, she is Composer-in-Residence with Opus One and Telos Consort for 2025–26. Ouyang serves as Music Director of the Westside Chamber Players and is pursuing her DMA in composition at Columbia University.

Telos Consort A rising force in New York’s new music scene, Telos Consort is a quintet of saxophones, strings, and piano reimagining the concert experience. They champion living composers and create inclusive performances that embrace sonic experimentation and stylistic hybridity.
