THE BLANC is proud to co-present multiple concerts with an extraordinary range of ensemble partners. These collaborations bring together musicians and creators from across generations, genres, and artistic backgrounds—string quartets and composerperformers, improvisers and multimedia collectives—each with a distinct voice and approach. Through these partnerships, Pulsing Sound highlights the breadth of New York's musical landscape and the vitality of the communities shaping it.
CURATOR- Sofia Ouyang
Sofia Jen Ouyang is a composer and conductor whose work explores the poetic and philosophical dimensions of sound as a site of memory, identity, and entanglement. Her music has been performed by ensembles such as Orchestra of St. Luke’s, Ensemble Modern, Riot Ensemble, Wet Ink, San Francisco Contemporary Music Players, and the Juilliard Orchestra, and featured at Lucerne Festival, MATA Festival, Mixtur Festival, Lincoln Center, Frankfurt Oper, and the Arvo Pärt Center. A two-time BMI Composer Award winner and Copland House fellow, she is Composer-in-Residence with Opus One and Telos Consort for 2025–26. Ouyang serves as Music Director of the Westside Chamber Players and is pursuing her DMA in composition at Columbia University.
Jixue Jixue Yang is a contemporary classical pianist whose repertoire bridges Eastern and Western traditions. She has performed internationally, with residencies at Nief-Norf and SinusTon Festival. A prizewinning pianist, she has collaborated with ensembles such as Klangforum Wien, BlackBox Ensemble, and Infrasound Ensemble, and is dedicated to performing and premiering a wide range of new works. As a founding member of the electroacoustic trio Apply Triangle, she co-produced the internationally praised album Oxalis Triangularis. Through her solo performances and interdisciplinary projects, Yang continues to expand the piano’s expressive possibilities across acoustic and experimental dimensions.
