About this event

  • Event lasts 3 hours

This workshop breaks down the publishing process and helps you figure out if your idea has the potential to become a book. If it does, you'll leave with clear next steps to bring it to life.

This program includes:

✓ An intimate in-person workshop with Fran Hauser at Bedford Books, limited to just five participants. You’ll learn about the different nonfiction publishing options, what makes a book sellable, and how to create a winning pitch (I call it a "Book Brief").

Practical tips, proven strategies, and a step-by-step roadmap so that you can make informed decisions on publishing your book. We’ll also mix it up with group discussions and hands-on activities.

Templates and worksheets so that you don’t need to reinvent the wheel.

✓ An environment where you’ll be able to connect with other aspiring authors, swap stories, and support each other.

Key takeaways:

✓ Clarity on which publishing path to pursue (Big 5, indie, hybrid, or self-publishing).

Action plan with specific next steps to get you going on your journey (including how to refine your concept and craft your Book Brief).

✓ Identification of the collaborators who can help bring your book to life.

Coffee and snacks will be served.

About Fran Hauser:

Fran Hauser is a bestselling author, keynote speaker, champion of women in the workplace, and a LinkedIn Top Voice.

She has spoken at over 200 organizations, including Meta, Google, Unilever, Blackrock, NPR, Mastercard, and The Conference for Women. As a former Fortune 500 executive and active start-up investor, who has funded over 40 female-founded companies, Fran’s insights have appeared in media outlets including Forbes, CNBC, Fast Company, Fortune, Elle, Refinery29, and Business Insider.

Fran is the author of two books that have been hailed as modern-day bibles for professional women striving to create careers they love while staying true to themselves. The Myth of the Nice Girl (2018, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt) has been translated into ten languages and earned the prestigious title of "Best Business Book of the Year, 2018" by Audible. Its runaway success formed the catalyst for her acclaimed thought-leadership platform. The follow-up workbook Embrace the Work, Love Your Career (2022, Collective Book Studio) has become the go-to curriculum for women’s affinity groups nationwide.

Fran’s publishing journey was so rewarding that she launched Bookbound, a podcast for nonfiction writers, which she co-hosts with friend and literary agent Bethany Saltman.

In December 2024, Fran opened Bedford Books, the first-ever bookstore in her hometown of Bedford, NY. The bookstore combines her passion for storytelling and community-building, allowing her to support and inspire readers and writers alike.
