Utah Psychedelic Society is excited to invite Bryce Blankenagel to present his research about entheogens (psychedelics) in early Mormonism and the ritualistic and initiatory use of entheogens in religion.

The presentation will also include a Q&A and end with a 1-hour tour of Gilgal Gardens, an initiatory sculpture garden hiding in plain sight nestled in downtown Salt Lake City.

Bryce is the host of Naked Mormonism and co-author of “The Entheogenic Origins of Mormonism: A Working Hypothesis” recently published in the Journal of Psychedelic Studies.

What to expect:

Our day will start at 2:00 p.m. at The City Library in downtown Salt Lake City for the presentation and Q&A, followed by a 1-mile walk to Gilgal Gardens for a tour. Those unable to walk from the Library to Gilgal Gardens are welcome to meet the group there shortly after the presentation. The Gilgal Sculpture Garden is relatively small with plenty of places for seating during the tour which will run until approximately 5:30. A limited number of “Joseph Smith the Puppetmaster” unisex t-shirts will be available for purchase.

What you get:

Ticket purchase gains access to the presentation + Q&A, and the Gilgal initiatory sculpture garden tour. Additionally, a very limited number of VIP tickets are available to join Bryce and the event organizers at a local pub for a dinner and drinks. Location of VIP gathering will be sent to VIP ticket-holders. Price does not include food or drink.

"The City Library" in downtown Salt Lake City in Conference Room 4 on Level 4.

Where can I park?

The Library has a paid underground parking lot. There is also street parking and other parking lots nearby if you wish to find a less-expensive option.

What should I bring?

Please bring your ticket to be scanned at the door, good walking shoes for the journey to and around the Gilgal Sculpture Garden, as well as weather-appropriate clothing and water if desired.
