PSNY's Virtual Community Showcase & Open Mic!
Overview
On Tuesday, December 30, from 7:00–8:15 PM ET, PSNY will host a virtual End-of-Year Community Showcase & Open Mic! We invite our community to gather at the close of one year and the opening of another—to sip hot tea or cider and revel in the beautiful poetry coming out of PSNY’s virtual programs.
This Community Showcase & Open Mic will feature writers who have participated in our Free Verse Workshops for BIPOC & LGBTQIA+ creatives, Weekly Virtual Workshops, and Six-Week Virtual Intensive Programs. It’s an opportunity to share in the magic that happens when poetry is made accessible, nourishing, and collective.
The first half of the event will feature twelve writers from our three virtual programs. The second half will be an open mic, where anyone can share their work simply by raising their virtual hand on Zoom. To make this event as accessible as possible, all tickets are pay what you can! All donations will go directly to PSNY's Community Fund!
Have you attended one of our Weekly Virtual Workshops, Free Verse Workshops, or Six-Week Intensives and written a poem inspired by what you learned? Do you want the opportunity to read your work alongside a supportive community of writers? Fill out the form linked here with your name, email, pronouns, the most recent workshops you attended, and a short bio.
The first twelve readers will be selected on a first-come, first-served basis. All readings are limited to three minutes. After submitting the form, you’ll receive an email by Monday, December 22 with more information. If you’re not selected to read during the first half of the event, don’t worry—everyone will have a chance to share during the open mic portion.
Thank you for making this work possible!
