With poet Jen Cheng!

Want to switch the tone of your writing and try out a different voice? Poems can be more amusing when told from a quirky character's point of view. Using improv exercises to explore and embody a comedic archetype, we will unravel a poem and knit it into something “next in fashion.” We’ll take a piece of writing and change it with several points of view to make new magic that will surprise you.

About the Instructor: Jen Cheng is the current Poet Laureate of West Hollywood, author of a poetry collection Braided Spaces, and a 2023 California Arts Council Fellow. She is a multidisciplinary artist who blends East-West cultural influences with Feng Shui Poetry. She has taught writing workshops at libraries, community spaces such as a teahouse, and literary venues like Tin House and UCLA Extension. Jen is a cross-pollinator and community curator.
