An all-levels generative virtual workshop with poet Estevan Carlos Benson!

This workshop investigates ways that open ours hearts to results we may not control. Inspired by the practices of John Cage, who created a composition in which each musical note derived from fiber markings on hand made paper; Sol LeWitt, who created instructions and diagrams for wall drawings; and ancient meso-american music instruments designed to sound like birds, each of these can be described as removing a sense of "self" from the decision making. Whether by referencing nature, creating guidelines, or allowing random events to influence the process. In this workshop you will generate poetic results through chance, games, and creative technologies.

About the Instructor: Estevan Carlos Benson is an interdisciplinary artist, poet, sound designer, and composer based in Los Angeles, California. His work addresses technology, culture, and creative exploration through custom built tools. He also teaches design and technology in Southern California and has given a number of lectures, discussion, and workshops on topics relating to music, design, and technology.

**This workshop will take place on Zoom.**
