PSNY LGBTQIA+ Free Verse Workshop: Conjuring the Muse

A free generative virtual workshop for LGBTQIA+ Creatives with poet Jodi Lin!

Being BIPOC, I can feel my stories in my blood. My blood remembers things that I may not even be conscious of. Threatened with erasure, colonialism forced my ancestral stories into hiding. The spiritual, psychological and physical threats, the violence and lack of options other than to fight, assimilate or be hurt, or even murdered. I carry these horrors with me. To manage this pain today, I am empowered to write.

In this generative workshop we will use intention and desire to connect with our ancestors of our highest good. Using writing as a portal, we will seek to undo layers of psychic colonial domination. By connecting with the voices within, with curiosity and wonder, we will explore the idea that everything we need to write, already exists within us.

About the instructor: Jodi Lin identifies as a gender expansive poet, filmmaker and a person who hears voices. Taiwanese of the Seediq Tribe, they are currently based in Manhattan. Graduate of the ART Institute at Harvard, Sarah Lawrence College and a Brooklyn Poets Fellow. Their short film, Borte, Queen of Tibet, was nominated for the festival prize at Soho International Film Festival, exhibited at New York City’s Center for Art, Research and Alliances, and received numerous other screenings. Their writing practice is enriched by the certified peer recovery coaching and support they provide. The Tenderness of Glass is their debut collection from new words {press). The book was written as an offering of a new world to their ancestors.
