Providing Services to Survivors Affected by Substance Use: An Interactive Workshop for DV Service Providers

Join fellow service providers to learn about the intersection of domestic violence, trauma, and substance use, including best practices for screening and assessing survivors for substance use coercion and identifying referrals and resources.

Objectives

As a result of attending the training, domestic violence service providers will be able to:

- Practice person-first language techniques

- Apply the substance use and addictions framework as it relates to domestic violence

- Recognize how substance abuse affects the dynamics and tactics of abusers

- Identify, screen, and assess survivors experiencing domestic violence and substance abuse

- Practice effective safety and sobriety planning with survivors

3 Category 1 Social Work CEUs are available at no cost to MNADV members and $15 for non-MNADV members. Please bring cash or check to the symposium.
