About this event

Science & Tech • Other

In this live session, we will explore the amazing marine wildlife on our doorstep and cover a range of topics, including marine litter and biodiversity. At MCS we are passionate about using our voice to help protect the ocean and tackle marine issues. Learn how you can become a champion of our seas and find out more about routes into marine conservation.

Kirsty will also talk about her career journey - from studying English, Journalism and Creative Writing at Strathclyde, through a Masters in Wildlife Biology and Conservation at Edinburgh Napier, to her current role helping young people connect with nature. Along the way she will discuss the power of volunteering, traineeship schemes and the power of storytelling.

There will be time for students to put their questions to Kirsty during the Q&A section. Afterwards they will also be able to plan their own Source to Sea Litter Quest activity using the MCS education hub resources, and create a ‘Wave of Hope’ pledge to become guardians of the ocean.
