Bail reform has already spared thousands - likely tens of thousands - of New Yorkers from pretrial jailing. Yet after less than six weeks, the New York Senate is proposing a rollback that would dismantle our hard-won reform. This proposal would be a devastating step backward from even the old bail law and would dramatically increase the number of people jailed before trial.
