Looking to implement a coding & web design program within your school or organization but not sure how? Sign-up for our hands-on, professional development workshop. We will train you on how to implement and facilitate a coding/ web design program for students (ages 5-18). Throughout this training, we will provide you with learning materials such as web design study guides, curriculum, learning exercises for the students, and video tutorials that provide an in depth explanation on the learning material. We will also teach you best practices for teaching programming in a blended classroom with various learning styles. This will be a one-day workshop that will last 5 hours, 9 a.m.- 2 p.m. The workshop will conclude with a personal implementation plan for you to begin teaching coding & web design to your students.

About the Instructor: Travis A. Reeves, Founder of Kids Next Code LLC

  • I am Travis A. Reeves, a software consultant and founder of Kids Next Code LLC.

  • I graduated from Ga Southern University in 2010 with a degree in Information Technology and graduated from Central Michigan University with an MBA in 2013.

  • I have worked in IT for over 10 years with various companies such as Coca-Cola Enterprises, SunTrust Banks, the Georgia Lotto, and Fulton County schools.

  • Technology, education, and entrepreneurship has always been what I am most passionate about.

  • Kids Next Code is an opportunity for me to leverage my passion I have for technology, education, and entrepreneurship while simultaneously impacting the lives of the youth in our community who need these skills to be competitive in a tech driven society.

About Kids Next Code LLC:

  • I started the Kids Next Code program in January of 2016

  • Organization is geared towards increasing the exposure kids and adults in deprived communities have to technology and S.T.E.M. education

  • Since 2016, I’ve taught tech and S.T.E.M related courses such as web design, mobile app design, and robotics to over 500 students (ages 5-18) and 200 adults in Georgia and New York

  • Kids Next Code LLC has partnered with various organizations which consist of DeKalb County Jail, Galore Urban Tech based in New York, Clayton County library branch, Fulton County library branch, Riverdale Town Center, Tech Time Academy, Spelman College, etc.

  • In 2019, the Kids Next Code program expanded to New York to bring coding programs to Queens, New York and New Rochelle, New York.

Objective: To provide an overview of how the coding program will be facilitated and introduce professionals to the fundamentals of website design. The following topics will be discussed:

  • Overview of Kids Next Code program & learning material

  • Tips on facilitating coding & web design session

  • How to set up your web page

  • How to write text on your web page

  • How to apply styles and formatting throughout your web page

  • How to apply YouTube videos to your web page

  • How to apply images and links throughout your web page

  • Creating multiple web pages within your website

  • Overview of Mobile App Design program & learning material

  • How to design mobile app features

  • Tips on facilitating mobile app design session

  • How to post your website and mobile app online

  • Recap of lessons learned
