What is the schedule?

Is this a certification?

No, you will receive a certificate, which is what you need to start working as an interpreter with any agency on-site, by phone or by video. This program provides the prerequisite for national medical interpreting certification.

How many days is the training?

The training is 10 days to complete 40-hours. 9 days are online and 1 day is in-person.

What is covered in the training?

You will learn the interpreter's roles, ethics, modes of interpreting, terminology, and more. The sessions will teach what you need to know to work in different settings like medical, social services, education, etc.

What are the minimum requirements?

Minimum 18 years old, High School Diploma/GED or equivalent, and language proficiency in English and one other language.

Do I need experience in interpreting?

Prior experience in interpreting fields is not required.

In what language is the training?

This is a language-neutral course, taught in English, and is open to speakers of all languages.

Is this a recorded training?

No, this is a live training via Zoom

Do I need to participate in all sessions?

Yes. In order to qualify to take the final exam and receive your certificate, you need al least 36 hours of participation in class.

What if I don't live in KY, How can I take the final exam?

Contact the trainer beforehand to check what other options are available.

I'm learning English, can I practice here and continue learning English?

No, this is not a class to practice your English skills. Oral and written language proficiency is required in English and one other language. We don't teach English or other languages.

It's in Louisville, KY. I will email you the full address after registration.
