Do I need to buy professional software for Budgeting/Scheduling?

No. We’ll use Celtx and accessible templates for all hands-on exercises, while also introducing Movie Magic Scheduling and Budgeting and other industry-standard tools. The focus of the Masterclass is on underlying structures and best practices, which are fully transferable to any software.

I only plan to make short films. Is this class too focused on large-scale production?

Accepted Answer

Not at all. Producing is about resource management. We scale all concepts to fit your needs. You will learn the industry categories required for a feature film, but we also apply those principles directly to micro-budget productions.

Question 3

What materials should I bring to the class?

Accepted Answer

Please bring a basic outline or short logline for a project you wish to work on. We will provide a sample script for hands-on breakdown practice, but applying the scheduling and budgeting concepts to your own idea will be the most valuable part of the class.

Will the class cover managing crew and hiring?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We dedicate a segment to the practical aspects of team management, including the hierarchy of film crew departments, best practices for hiring key department heads, and securing basic legal releases for locations and talent.

Is the Masterclass recorded for later review?

Accepted Answer

No. To maintain a private, focused, and secure learning environment, the Masterclass is not recorded. Attendance is live only, making the personalized coaching you receive exclusive to the session. However, you will receive comprehensive class notes and a curated resource guide after the class.
