About this event

  • Event lasts 3 hours

This interactive 3-hour workshop deepens the concepts introduced in the keynote on June 6, giving participants the tools to practice procedural justice within their own sphere of influence. Led by Mitch McKinney, the session includes case-based scenarios, group dialogue, and real-time reflection to bridge theory and action.

Designed for public safety professionals, command staff, community liaisons, and anyone committed to justice-driven leadership, this workshop is a call to operationalize fairness—not just talk about it.

Participants Will:

  • Examine where procedural justice breaks down—and how to rebuild it
  • Practice listening and communication skills that enhance perceived fairness
  • Explore strategies for increasing officer legitimacy and morale
  • Leave with a personal action plan for applying procedural justice principles daily

Join us at the FOP Lodge 14 in Fort Wayne, IN.

ABOUT CORE LEADERSHIP:

Core Leadership is a 501(c)(3) and was founded to address the unique challenges faced by first responders in accessing professional development. The demanding hours, financial barriers, and societal stigmas often prevent first responders from receiving the same opportunities for growth and leadership development as leaders in other fields, such as those in Fortune 100 companies.

Our mission extends beyond first responders; we believe civilians also benefit from development opportunities that enhance understanding, build empathy, and strengthen relationships with those who serve their communities. By offering programs designed to bridge these divides, Core Leadership works to create environments where trust and respect flourish.

Through evidence-based training approaches and community collaboration, Core Leadership equips first responders and civilians with the skills to lead courageously, communicate effectively, and build stronger, more compassionate communities together.
