  • Thursday, November 6th, 2025 - 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM and 2:00 pm to 6:00 PM
  • Friday, November 7th - 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM and 2:00 pm to 6:00 PM

Are you a Certified Recovery Mentor (CRM) or Peer Support Specialist (PSS) in Oregon and you want to add working with folks who have disordered gambling to your skillset? If you work for an agency that is funded by the Oregon Health Authority, this certificate will enable you to bill for gambling peer services, without being a person in gambling recovery yourself. There are a lot of co-occuring challenges out there, so it's ideal to be able to be cross-trained, without necessarily having to renew a full certification every two years at the Mental Health and Addiction Certification Board of Oregon (MHACBO).

This course is 16 hours total: we will meet in a virtual online classroom, where we interact and apply our current mentoring skills to gambling recovery to support Oregon peers with problem gambling challenges.

Topics include: peer competencies, problem gambling knowledge, communication, advocacy, values, and the subtle but important differences in working with this group of folks who has gambling challenges. For example, the role of money, and how secrecy, shame, and recurrances are common. Often families are impacted by the gambling and we'll talk about how to support them as well.

Please know we will talk about dollar amounts, show gambling imagery, discuss traumatic topics including suicidality, expect a high level of self awareness, open mindedness, compassion and learning-mindset.

Attendees must be able to join from a computer in uninterupted / indoor space (not a car) with a working microphone and camera. You need to be on camera and able to interact at all times during the class. You cannot use a smart phone or tablet and you must be present for the full duration of each session to complete the course successfully.

We've found that is challenging for a lot of folks but we are not able to be flexible on these requirements.
