Privacy vs. Utility: Policy Choices in a Smart World
Overview
Join Florida Atlantic University’s Office of Public Policy Events (OPPE) for a thought-provoking conversation on one of today’s most pressing questions: How can we enjoy the benefits of smart technologies while protecting personal privacy?
From smarter traffic lights that reduce congestion to AI tools that enhance public safety, new technologies are helping make our communities more efficient, safe, and livable. At the same time, they raise important questions about how much information should be collected, how it is shared, and how it is ultimately used.
This forum brings together experts from academia, industry, and government to explore how innovations in sensing and artificial intelligence are shaping our public spaces and daily lives.
Panelists will share perspectives on how to strike the right balance between the utility afforded by these tools and the privacy expectations of individuals—inviting the audience to join a constructive, forward-looking dialogue on policy choices in a smart world.
This event is free and open to the public. Please register in advance.
