About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours 30 minutes
  • Ages 16+

Join us for a creative afternoon for a hands-on Printmaking Workshop with Michael Rosen—our featured gallery artist and resident expert in all things bold and beautiful. Michael will demonstrate his various techniques of printmaking using Sumi brushes, gelli plates, Japanese inks, and a splash of collage. You'll get to watch him work, then dive in and try it all for yourself—no experience needed, and all materials will be provided!

Want to personalize your prints? Feel free to bring along some fun inspiration: think sketchbooks, leaves, lacy doilies, stencils, paper cutouts, or dried flowers—anything you'd love to press, stamp, or layer.

Dress for the mess—aprons, smocks, or clothes you don't mind getting covered in ink are highly encouraged.

***Space is limited, and registration is required with a $5 refundable deposit to save your spot. Due to the materials used in this workshop, it is for ages 16+***

About your teacher:

For over forty-five years, Michael J. Rosen has been creating art that has resounded in the community and across the nation. He's the author, editor, or illustrator of some 150 books; founding literary director of the James Thurber House; and illustrator for magazines such as New Yorker, Gourmet, Young Children, and Bon Appetit, as well as regional periodicals.

Rosen lived the first half of his life in Columbus, Ohio, and now lives on many acres in the foothills east of the city. His work reflects his study and stewardship of the natural world around him.

His ceramics, collages, monotypes, and paintings are housed in many private and public collections such as the Greater Columbus Arts Council, Columbus Convention Center, and Hilton Columbus. Recent solo shows have been presented by Sharon Weiss Gallery, The Ohio State University Faculty Club, and Hilton Columbus Downtown.
