This workshop is perfect for both beginners and experienced artists looking to explore the fascinating world of intaglio printmaking using recycled Tetra Pak cartons.

OVERVIEW

  • Introduction to Intaglio Printmaking: Understanding the basics and techniques of the intaglio printmaking process.
  • Using Recycled Tetra Pak Cartons: How to repurpose Tetra Pak cartons as printing plates.
  • Image Transfer: Techniques for transferring your design from sketch to Tetra Pak plate.
  • Dry-point and Etching: Safe and effective dry-point methods for engraving and etching your design into the plate.
  • Inking and Printing: Applying ink and using an etching press to create your prints.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • All necessary tools and materials, including Tetra Pak plates, ink, and archival paper will be provided.
  • Each participant will receive a 3x5 recycled Tetra Pak plate and 5x7 archival cotton paper for printing.
  • Protective gloves and aprons to keep you clean while you create.
  • No prior art or printmaking experience is necessary.

WHAT TO BRING

  • Imagery to use for reference or an image prepared to print (plate sizes will be about 3x5”)

  • Minimum Age Requirement: Suggested minimum age is 12 years. Sharp tools will be used during this workshop and to prevent any injury it is recommended there be a confident level of hand coordination for any minor. Parents/Guardians are the best judge of their child(ren)'s capabilities and skill level. Please reach out if you feel your child(ren) are below the suggested age and can confidently participate.
  • Minors 12-17 years must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. Parent(s)/guardian(s) must sign liability waiver(s) for any minor and must be present for the entirety of the workshop.

What's the refund policy?

Due to the nature of the workshop and limited spots, we have a no-refund policy. However, you may transfer your ticket 48 hrs prior to the workshop to another person or another workshop if you cannot attend. Please contact us via thehare@madharepress.com for transfer requests.

Do you take Venmo or Apple Pay?

Contact: thehare@madharepress.com to discuss alternative payment methods. Payment must be made prior to the event date to hold your spot for the Workshop. Participants can wait for day of payment, however, a spot is not guaranteed. Promo code only counts towards Eventbrite payments.

What are my parking options at Petrichor Collective Studios | 131 East Lincoln Ave Suite C?

Petrichor Collective Studios is located in the basement unit of 131 East Lincoln Ave. There is parking on both sides of the building, one on Willow and the other on Lincoln. The Lincoln side parking lot is ADA accessible with an elevator located at the front of the building.

How do I get in to the Studio?

From the Willow street parking lot go through the green gate and down the stairs. The door will be open to our primary gathering space. From Lincoln Ave go in the main doors and take the elevator down to the studio. Take a right out of the elevator and go down the hall until you reach the big room.

What can I bring into the event?

Feel free to bring any personal images or sketches for inspiration. All other materials will be provided.

Do I need prior art experience to attend?

No prior art or printmaking experience is necessary. This workshop is designed for beginners and experienced artists alike.

Can I purchase a ticket for my child(ren) under the age of 18 yrs for a workshop?

Workshops have a minimum suggested age based on safety & tools being used. Anyone over the suggested age is welcome to participate. However, all minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian for the duration of the workshop. A ticket must be purchased for everyone who plans to participate.

What if my child(ren) is/are under the suggested minimum age?

Each workshop has a suggested age based on fine motor skill needs. If you believe your child is ready and can safely participate, I trust your judgment. Please reach out if you’d like to discuss whether a particular workshop would be a good fit.
