Join us for a workshop exploring light, nature, and sustainability through the slow and meditative process of cyanotype printing where participants will leave the session with their very own sun print. ☀️
Shafia Motaleb, the facilitator, is an award winning British Bangladeshi illustrator and designer based in London, UK. With over seven years of experience in illustration, her creative practice is informed by a background in architecture and a deep interest in how place, culture, and narrative can shape environments that meaningfully support individuals, communities and the planet. She is drawn to themes of place, memory and the everyday, often exploring how identity, belonging and visual language shape the spaces we inhabit. Her work moves fluidly between disciplines, reflecting a curiosity about systems, environments and the stories we build within them.
What to expect:
- All materials (like leaves and paper) are provided
- A step by step guide, by Shafia, on how to create a sun print cyanotype artwork.
- Reflections and discussions with new friends on Islamic values such as khalīfah (stewardship), mīzān (balance), and nūr (light).
- A handout at the end of the session to reflect on the themes discussed.
No experience necessary - just curiosity and openness. 😊
Spaces are limited so sign up quickly to enjoy an afternoon of open discussions and flowing creativity!
People of all faiths and none are welcome to join us!
