Drag Queen Life Drawing Session
Our Pride Month Life Drawing Session will be an entire afternoon filled with art and community. On Sunday, June 8th 1 - 4PM at the William Way LGBT Community Center, you’ll have the opportunity to draw from multiple models, including Philadelphia-based drag kings Cyrus K. Stratton and Eugene Rideher Betta! All skill levels are welcome to this non-instructional event. Bring your own favorite mediums and surfaces to work on. Limited availability. Tickets sales support our Arts and Culture program and covers payment for the models.
Presented as programming for our exhibition Refigured, Unframed: An Exhibition with Philly Queer Life Drawing on view from May 8 to June 30, 2025. For more information on the exhibition, please visit www.waygay.org/galleries
Philly Queer Life Drawing is a project by Brielle DuBose and De’von Downes which aims to uplift trans, fat, disabled, Black and Brown bodies. Since 2023, they’ve organized dozens of life drawing events where participants draw a model through a series of poses starting with one-minute gesture drawings and ending with a 30-40 minute pose. Their events have been hosted at Tattooed Mom, Fleisher Art Memorial, Camden FireWorks, Moore College of Art & Design and other sites in the Philadelphia region. In 2024, Philly Queer Life Drawing was awarded the Art and Change Grant from the Leeway Foundation.
