Please note that by registering you are expected to stay for the entirety of the 3 hour class. Also, that you have supervisor approval if class is taken during your scheduled working hours.

Equip yourself with the necessary skills to effectively communicate and protect yourself against aggressive and/or agitated patients. Empower yourself to better serve your patients and help your fellow staff members! This course is ONLY for NYC H+H/Elmhurst employees only.

Note: Strongly recommended pre Online 1 hour course to be completed before in person session; + 3 hour in-person training (registration required). Online 1 hour course available in peoplesoft (https://elm.nychhc.org/ ) via My learning: “Communication and Safety Skills”

  • Develop appropriate responses to stressful situations
  • Identify a wide range of interventions of agitated patient
  • Maintain the safety of all
  • Identify inappropriate staff responses
  • Discuss obstacles of verbal and non-verbal communication
