Presentation by Governor David Beasley

David Beasley served as Governor of South Carolina from 1995-1999. Following his tenure as Governor, he rededicated himself to peacemaking and building bridges around the world. Nominated by American presidents from both political parties, Beasley assumed the role of executive director of the U.N. World Food Programme (WFP) in 2017, serving for six years. During his tenure at WFP, Beasley substantially increased the role of women at all points in the process of humanitarian relief.
