The Preparedness Medicine series (“Prep Med”) is designed to give you practical, lifesaving medical skills for when professional help is delayed or unavailable. Whether you’re preparing for remote travel, natural disasters, or simply want to be more self-reliant, this training will give you the confidence to act when it matters most.

🧰 LEVEL I: BASIC PREP MED

🕓 3 hours – Saturday morning

The foundation of preparedness medicine.
Learn how to stabilize a victim until help arrives (usually within 1–2 hours) and treat minor injuries. This course is recommended for anyone who wants to be capable and ready to respond in a crisis.

You’ll learn:

  • Basic Scene Size-up
  • Rapid patient assessment for life-threatening emergencies
  • How to control severe bleeding
  • Shock management
  • Basic Airway management and support

Course includes:

Level I is a prerequisite for Level II.

🏕 LEVEL II: INTERMEDIATE PREP MED (Add-On)

🕓 4 hours – Saturday afternoon

For when help is hours away or medical care is more than just the basics.
This intermediate course builds on Level I and focuses on managing emergencies in remote or delayed-response environments — perfect for preppers, hikers, hunters, boaters, and anyone off the grid.

You’ll learn:

  • Introduction to tactical emergency care
  • Intermediate patient assessment
  • Managing common medical problems
  • Over-the-counter medication use
  • Splinting & wound care
  • Using expanded IFAK and course-provided supplies

Course includes:

  • 🩺 All materials from Level I
  • 🏅Intermediate Preparedness Medicine Completion Certficate
  • 🩹 Adult/Child/Infant CPR and Basic First Aid Certificate (valid 2 years)
  • ⛺Friday and Saturday night tent site

Level II is a prerequisite for Level III.

🧭 LEVEL III: ADVANCED PREP MED (Add-On)

🕓 8 hours – Sunday (full day)

For when no help is coming.
Building upon Levels I & II, this advanced course teaches you how to manage advanced medical emergencies long-term, in austere or disaster settings where resources are scarce. Ideal for anyone serious about full-spectrum preparedness and for those creating preparedness groups.

You’ll learn:

  • Advanced tactical emergency care
  • Advanced patient assessment
  • Discuss OODA Loop application
  • Managing complex medical & infectious conditions
  • Tourniquet conversion
  • Advanced wound care — including suturing practice
    (bring your own suture kit — purchase here)
  • Childbirthing and neonatal care
  • CBRNE Exposure Interventions
  • Long-term medical planning & improvisation (P.A.C.E. Planning)
  • Group Development and Leadership Styles
  • Setting up a PREP MED center for your group

Course includes:

Seth Craig- Paramedic , Associate in Wilderness Medicine, TECC & FACT Instructor
Seth is an experienced rural paramedic and EMS program director. In addition to Prep Med, he teaches Stop the Bleed, CPR, Basic First Aid, Wilderness Medicine, Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC), Foreign Affairs Counter Threat (FACT), EMT, and Paramedic courses.
